This was definitely the day for my cyclo cross bike with mudguards. The weather was really nasty with cold heavy rain and strong winds. There was only a pretty small group of hardcore cyclists that started the ride and the pace was appropriate for the depressed nature of the group. The rain stopped on Highland and the pace picked up quite a bit with a nice rotating paceline all the way into Livermore. We lost a few riders on this section and we had a lot more turn off at Ruby hills just leaving us with about 7 riders. I rode a nice tempo on the front all the way up Collier canyon and got some good power training in. The ride back into Danville saw us lose more and more riders but there was a guy from Taleo setting an awesome pace so it was a quick run in.
Weather was quite nice by the time we finished. Ended up tired and dirty and I doubt my gloves will ever dry out.
